Narayanpet saree

Narayanpet is a town in Mahbubnagar district [around 96 kms. from Hyderabad]in Andhra Pradesh.The town specializes in handloom saree manufacturing.The Narayanpet saree are made from cotton as well as by mixing silk with cotton.Their borders & pallus are very traditional .They are characterised by a rich pallu  with a unique pattern of alternating red &white bands.The border is usally a flat expanse of deep maroon red or chocolate red thinly separated by white or coloured lines.They come in contrasting colours with special pallus and simple borders.Double shade saree with pink -purple and maroon-mustard blends.Cotton silk blends and light pure silk sarees are their speciality.
                                   Narayanpet[town]is an assembly constituency.Primary source of income for people is through weaving sarees .Because of scarcity of water{no river nearby} and bad transportation{no railway station},there is no major industry here.It was noted for the manufacture of superior silk and cotton sarees:= 
Narayanpet silk saree:-They are very light in weight with a contrast border and contrast pallu with a small zari design border .These are cheapest silk sarees in India and much popular in Maharashtra.Also elite women likes these sarees very much.It looks simple & elegant. 
Narayanpet cotton saree:-The warp and weft of these sarees are 80'combed cotton and dyed in vat colours .These sarees are simple ,light weight and contrast borderand in the body self coloured checks and contrast coloured checks are woven .Since 1986 these sarees are still popular and the entire Narayanpet and surrounding villages weavers are engaged in weaving these sarees around 1500 looms are still working in these designs.
                                The skilled weavers of Andhra Pradesh create vibrantly tribal style sarees appropiate for everyday wear .Hard working village women wear these sarees daily and enjoy their breezy soft finish on a hot day.
